Is it safe?
Sedation is extremely safe. You will be monitored the entire time, and someone will be by your side to help you through the process the entire time you are here
I've heard that some offices offer a "pill" for sedation. Do you do this?
Yes, but we are one of the very few dental offices in Colorado that is licensed to safely administer Intravenous (IV) sedation as well. You may choose to take a pill and go to sleep, or you may choose to have an IV placed. IV sedation usually takes place much faster, and is easier to monitor, but both methods are safe and equally effective.
Will I really be "asleep?"
The great thing about sedation is that once you are sedated, you can consciously choose to go to sleep, or you can consciously choose to stay awake. You are always in control, and you may choose to do whatever you wish.
Will it hurt?
No, you will feel nothing while sedated.
Can I drive?
No, you should have someone accompany you to your appointment and be available to drive you home afterward.
Is there any reason why I should not be sedated?
Yes, you may have health risks such as risk for heart attack or certain rare genetic conditions that could mean postponing sedation until you are healthy.
How long will I be "under?"
You will be sedated for as long as your appointment takes. Usual sedation times range from 2-6 hours, but varies according to your wishes.
How do I find out if I'm a good candidate for sedation?
Just call any time and we'll be happy to talk to you for as long as you'd like and answer any questions you may have. There's no need to be embarrassed about sedation, and best of all...the consultation is FREE! Just click here!
